February 2017 Design, Code & Tech Favorites

1. Web Gradients

If you’re a long time XO PIXEL reader, you’ve probably noticed how much I love gradients. If you’re also a fan of gradients, Web Gradients is going to be your favorite website. Web Gradients has a ton of pre-made gradients for you to use on your web design projects. You can also use all of their gradients in Sketch or Photoshop.

2. HTML5 Robot

HTML5 Robot is such a cool app. When you’re not sure which semantic tag you should use for an HTML5 element (which happens more often than not), the HTML5 Robot will decide for you. All you have to do is answer a series of questions, and then watch the magic happen.

3. Tilt JS

Title JS is kind of amazing. It’s a lightweight hover tilt effect that you can add to your website elements for a really cool hover effect.

4. CSS Grid – Table layout is back.

This article on Google’s Web Fundamentals blog is a great read. It’s an in-depth article on the latest CSS Grid that’s been getting a lot of buzz in the web development community. Read it here.

5. Nuage

Save time and money with Nuage. This great tool allows you to create a custom email address that’s linked to your regular Gmail address.

6. Lottie

If you’re building apps, Lottie allows you to easily add complex animations to your apps. Lottie is a library for Android, iOS, and React Native apps. It works by rendering After Effects animations in real-time. It’s also worth noting that Lottie was released by Airbnb’s design team—pretty cool!

7. CSS Peeper

CSS Peeper is a neat Google Chrome extension for web designers and developers. Find out a website’s color scheme, assets, and other helpful CSS properties as inspiration for your future website projects.

8. Zondicons

Zondicons are a set of free icons that you can use for your next app or web design project.
